Team Sask Brings Home Silver Medals

Team Sask brings home 2 sets of silver medals from the 2024 15U Western National Championships.

All the 15U Western teams from BC, Alberta, Sask, and Manitoba competed from Friday, May 3rd to Sunday, May 5th in Surrey, BC at the Guildford Aquatic Centre.

15U Boys

The Team Sask Boys delivered a stellar performance on the first day, notching two wins and securing 2nd place in their pool following a loss in the last round-robin game on Saturday morning. A thrilling shootout victory against the Calgary Torpedoes in the semi-final on Saturday night propelled them into the final against Fraser Valley. Despite an impressive start that saw them take a brief 4-goal lead, they were unable to maintain their advantage, ultimately conceding the victory to their opponents.

15U Girls

The Team Sask Girls came out number one from their round-robin games Friday earning them a bye to the semi-finals and a morning off Saturday to scout their opponents. Beating Tsunami in the semi-final on Saturday evening, the girls readied to face the Calgary Renegades in the final—a team they had yet to conquer this season. Despite a valiant effort, Team Sask fell short in the final, settling for silver medals. Nonetheless, their exceptional performance earned two players, Clara Milleker Shyiak and Lucia Dorgigné from Regina, spots on the All-Star team. This achievement marks a significant improvement over last season's 5th place finish at the 15U Westerns, showcasing the remarkable growth of this group of talented young women.
