Ellen Rafferty has been playing water polo for the past 15 years, coaching for the past 10 years and avoiding referring at all costs. She started playing with the Calgary Renegades as a goalie when she was 13. Ellen was invited to play with the 18U Canadian National team to compete an Youth Pan American Championships in Mexico City and to train and play in Hawaii with the Canadian Junior National Team. Following her competitive career Ellen quickly found a love for coaching. In her last year with the Renegades Ellen head coached the 16U girls team to an undefeated season, winning national championships. After finishing university Ellen took a year off to coach and play in Manchester, England, where she brought the 14U Manchester Team to a national championship and won the British National League and Championship playing for the Manchester senior team. Then in 2011, Ellen decided to come to Saskatoon, some may say to do her Masterâ€™s and PhD but really it was to coach Team Sask. Ellen has been involved in all different levels of Team Sask for the past 5 years from the Prairie League to U19 National Championships. Currently, she is the head coach of the Saskatoon Pirates where she is hoping to get more kids involved in the fantastic sport of water polo.
