Cyril Dorgigné – Water Polo Sask Executive Director & Provincial Head Coach


Head Cyril Dorgigné is entering his entering his 11th season at the helm of Water Polo Saskatchewan Programs.

Dorgigné has raised the level of water polo in the province to win 14 medals at Nationals since he restructured its programs during his first season 2007-2008. Since 2012 Teams Sask always won at least 1 medal every year.

During his time with WPS, Dorgigné has produced over 30 National Team athletes in both genders, who attended to 10 World Championships.

The French native did also coach the Canadian Junior National Team at 2 Panam Championships and 1 World Championship. He won 1 Canadian Select League and reached 2 more time the final.

Head Coach Dorgigné philosophy combines both academic and athletic excellence: school is the priority so a great water polo player can be so ONLY if his academic results allow him/her to train as a champion.

A native of Nice, France, Dorgigné started swimming at the age of 6. At 11 years old water polo was introduced to him, and at 15 he was invited to be part the professional water polo team of the Olympic Nice Natation. Dorgigné was also a member of the youth, junior and FISU French National Team between 1995 and 1999.

Head Coach Dorgigné graduated in kinesiology from the UFR STAPS at l’Université de Nice Sofia Antipolis. Cyril resides in the city of Regina, SK, with his wife, Ingrid, and their daughters, Lucia and Chloé.
